The NURT Symposia are among the key Cuban scientific meetings dealing with the peaceful applications of nuclear techniques in several domains of the society. NURTs provide an opportunity for the international scientific community to meet outstanding researchers and to discuss current trends and tasks in several areas of applied, nuclear related topics. The past editions of the NURT were organised in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2006, hosting delegates and invited scientists from more than 40 countries from all over the world. In 2006, high-energy physics was added as one of the topics of the meeting, including several areas of particle physics and astrophysics.
The WONP-NURT 2009 will be organised jointly by the Instituto Superior de Ciencias y Tecnologías Avanzadas (InSTEC) and the Centro de Aplicaciones Tecnológicas y Desarrollo Nuclear (CEADEN) in coordination with the University of Zaragoza, the Agencia de Energía Nuclear y Tecnologías de Avanzada (AEN&TA) and the Sociedad Cubana de Física (SCF). It will be devoted to the presentation and discussion of original works involving current problems in several fields of applied and fundamental research.
