In compliance with the latest recommendations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Cuba approved a new Decree Law on the peaceful use of nuclear energy and ionizing radiation.
The new legislation, applicable to individuals and legal entities, both national and foreign, that operate with radioactive materials in Cuban territory, establishes a comprehensive legal framework for radiological protection, minimizing risks to current and future generations. It requires the exclusively peaceful use of nuclear materials and technologies and includes provisions on the management of radioactive waste and disused sources.
